Wednesday: "Looking Back to Move Forward"

Devotional
When fear about the future threatens to overwhelm you, one of the most powerful things you can do is look back. Habakkuk knew what was coming. The Babylonians were on their way, and the devastation would be real. His body trembled. His lips quivered. He was not pretending the situation was fine. But instead of staring into the darkness ahead, he turned his eyes toward what God had already done. He rehearsed the history. The Exodus. The wilderness. The Promised Land. A God who parted seas, defeated enemies, and never once abandoned His people. And as Habakkuk looked at those moments, he was not just remembering events. He was seeing God's character, faithful, powerful, and present. That same God had not changed. When life feels uncertain, your history with God is one of your greatest weapons. Think about the moments He came through for you. The prayer He answered. The door He opened. The time He carried you when you had nothing left. Those moments are not just memories. They are evidence. God who was faithful then is faithful now. Looking back is not living in the past. It is building the courage to trust Him with your future.
Bible Verse
'Lord, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O Lord, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.' - Habakkuk 3:2
Reflection Question
When you look back at your life, what specific moment of God's faithfulness can you hold onto as evidence that He will come through for you again?
Quote
'His focus really is not so much on what God has done in the past, but as he looks at the past, He looks at God’s character.'
Prayer
God, remind me of what You have already done when fear about the future tries to take over. Let my history with You build my faith for what is ahead. Amen.
