Wednesday: "Choose Your Attitude in the Storm"

Devotional

Nobody chooses their circumstances. But everyone chooses their response. Paul did not choose his thorn in the flesh. He did not choose the beatings, the shipwrecks, or the sleepless nights. But he made a deliberate decision about how he would face them. He wrote that he took pleasure in infirmities, in needs, in persecutions, because he understood something most of us are still learning: his attitude was a choice. That is not toxic positivity. It is not pretending the pain is not real. It is a decision, made in faith, to trust that God is bigger than the storm you are standing in. Spurgeon, one of the greatest preachers in history, battled severe depression for much of his life. He did not have easy answers. But he kept preaching. He kept trusting. He chose, again and again, to give God glory rather than give up. Faith is not the absence of struggle. It is praising God in the storm, trusting Him in the valley, and following Him even in the dark. You may not be able to control what is happening around you, but you can control where you fix your eyes.

Bible Verse

"Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong." - 2 Corinthians 12:10

Reflection Question

When life gets hard, what is your default response, and what would it look like to make a deliberate choice to trust God instead?

Quote

"My emotional mindset and this is what he's dealing with. Paul, here. My attitude is a choice."

Prayer

God, help me to choose faith over fear today. Shift my perspective so that I see my trials through Your eyes, not my own.
