Monday: "Prepared, Not Surprised"

Life has a way of catching us off guard. A relationship falls apart. A diagnosis changes everything. A plan you were certain about collapses overnight. In those moments, it is easy to wonder if something has gone terribly wrong. But Jesus saw this coming. Before His disciples ever faced their hardest days, He sat with them and told them the truth. Following Him would bring real difficulty. Not because they had failed, but because they were faithful. He named three sources of disturbance every believer will face: opposition from the world around us, a battle within ourselves, and a spiritual enemy who is very real. He did not list these things to frighten His followers. He listed them so that when hard times arrived, His people would not be caught off guard. There is something deeply comforting about that. Jesus does not sugarcoat the Christian life, and He does not abandon us to figure it out alone. He prepares us. He equips us. He tells us what is coming so that our faith does not crumble when it arrives. If you are in a hard season right now, you are not outside of God's plan. You are right in the middle of it. Take a breath. You were warned, and you were also given everything you need to walk through it.

When difficulty hits, is your first instinct to question God or to lean into what He has already told you about how this life works?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for preparing me rather than leaving me to be surprised by hardship. Help me to trust that every difficult season is within Your plan and Your care. Amen.
