Monday: "Are You Actually Living Like God Is Real?"

Devotional
It is easy to check the boxes. Show up on Sunday, sing the songs, bow your head in prayer, and then walk out the door and live the rest of the week as if God is not paying attention. If we are honest, most of us have been there. The people of Zephaniah's day were doing the same thing. They were going through the motions of worship while quietly living as though God was distant or disengaged. It looked religious on the outside, but the heart had drifted far. This is what we might call practical atheism. Not a formal rejection of God, but a functional one. We say we believe, but our daily choices, our priorities, our anxieties, and our habits often tell a different story. Here is the encouraging truth: God is not bringing this to light to shame you. He is bringing it to light because He loves you too much to let you stay there. Conviction is an act of grace. It means He has not given up on you. Today is a good day to close the gap between what you confess and how you actually live. Start small. Invite God into one conversation, one decision, one moment you would normally handle on your own. That is where real faith grows.
Bible Verse
'Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, who do His just commands; seek righteousness; seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the anger of the Lord.' - Zephaniah 2:3
Reflection Question
If someone followed you around for a full week without knowing anything about your faith, what conclusions would they draw about whether God is real to you?
Quote
We live like practical atheists. We confess that God is real. We do the church thing, but in our daily practice we just act like God doesn't exist.
Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the moments I have lived as though You were not present or concerned. Help me to close the gap between my confession and my daily life, starting today. Amen.
