Friday 7/31: You Will Not Walk Alone

Some seasons of life feel like walking through a valley with no end in sight. Grief, illness, uncertainty, loss. These are real, and they are heavy. And yet, one of the most beloved passages in all of Scripture speaks directly into those moments with quiet, unshakeable confidence. Psalm 23 does not promise that the valley will not come. It promises that you will not walk through it alone. The Good Shepherd is with you. His presence does not remove the darkness, but it means the darkness does not have the final word. And the promise does not stop there. Goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life. Not just the good days. All of them. And at the end of it all, you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. That is not wishful thinking. That is the promise of God, sealed by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There is a future kingdom coming where God's people will dwell safely and securely, forever. No more valleys. No more shadows. Just the presence of the King, without end. You are not alone today. And the best is still ahead. Hold on to that. It is as good as gold.

In the valley you are currently walking through, what would it look like to actively trust that God is with you rather than simply hoping He is?

Prayer

Father, remind me today that I am never alone, even in the darkest moments. Fill me with the hope of Your eternal kingdom and the peace that comes from knowing You are walking with me. Amen.
