Wednesday: "Light in the Darkness"

There are seasons in life when darkness feels less like a passing storm and more like a permanent address. Maybe you are in one of those seasons right now. A relationship that has broken down. A loss that has not healed. A situation that shows no signs of changing. In those moments, it is tempting to believe that the darkness is all there is. Micah knew that feeling. He was sitting in a hard place, under the weight of discipline and uncertainty. But he spoke words that cut straight through the darkness with remarkable confidence. He said that when he falls, he will rise. When he sits in darkness, the Lord will be His light. Notice he did not say "if" he falls. He said "when." He was honest about the reality of struggle. But he was equally honest about something else. The darkness does not get the last word. God does. This is not a promise that hard seasons end quickly. Sometimes they do not. But it is a promise that you are never alone in them. God does not abandon His people when things get difficult. He enters the darkness with them. He is the light that no amount of hardship can extinguish. No matter how bad things get, His light in the world will not go out. And neither will His light in you.

In a season of darkness or difficulty, what does it practically look like for you to trust that God is your light rather than waiting for the circumstances to change first?

Prayer

Lord, when I cannot see the way forward, remind me that You are the light. Help me to trust Your presence even when I cannot feel it.
