Wednesday: Guilt God Has Already Forgiven

There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from carrying guilt that has already been forgiven. You know the feeling. Something from your past surfaces, and suddenly you are back in that moment, rehearsing it, reliving it, wondering if you will ever fully be free from it. Here is the truth that Micah closes with, and it is one of the most tender declarations in all of Scripture. God delights in steadfast love. He casts sin into the depths of the sea. He does not retain His anger forever because His very nature is to love. Justice was not ignored. It was satisfied. The cross of Jesus Christ absorbed every penalty you could never pay in a thousand lifetimes. That means the guilt you are still carrying is guilt that God has already released. You do not have to keep returning to the graveyard of your past. God is not standing there waiting to remind you. He has moved forward, and He is inviting you to do the same. This is not a license to take sin lightly. It is a reason to take grace seriously. You are free. Walk in that freedom today.

Jesus, thank You for taking what I could never carry. Help me to receive the freedom You purchased and to stop returning to what You have already forgiven. Amen.
