Tuesday: "Choosing to Look Up"

When everything around you is falling apart, where do you look? It is a simple question with a surprisingly hard answer. Our instinct is often to look at the problem, to analyze it, worry about it, or try to fix it ourselves. Micah faced a collapsing society, personal grief, and deep uncertainty. And in the middle of all of it, he made a deliberate choice. He chose to look to the Lord. That word "look" matters. It is not passive. It is an act of the will. Micah was not pretending things were fine. He had just finished lamenting the state of his nation. But he refused to let despair have the final word. He anchored himself to something more stable than his circumstances. He anchored himself to God. This is not blind optimism. It is faith with its eyes open. Micah knew things were hard. He knew judgment was coming. But he also knew that God was still God, that His salvation was real, and that waiting on Him was never wasted time. Whatever you are facing today, you can make the same choice Micah made. You can look up. Not because your situation has changed, but because the God you are looking to never does. He is steady when everything else is shifting, and He will hear you.

Father, when I am tempted to look everywhere else for answers, remind me to look to You first. Teach me to wait on You with confidence, knowing You hear me.
