Friday: The Destination Is God Himself

Psalm 23 ends with one of the most breathtaking promises in all of Scripture. Goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life, and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. That word follow does not quite capture the full picture. God's loving kindness pursues you. It chases you down. Every single day of your life, His goodness is behind you, moving you forward toward a destination that is greater than anything this world can offer. And what is that destination? Not just a place. Not just heaven as a concept. The destination is God Himself. His presence. His glory. Unveiled and unending. Your best life is not now. The green pastures and still waters of this life are real gifts, but they are only a glimpse of what is coming. One day, every need will be fully met, every wound fully healed, and every longing fully satisfied, not by a thing, but by a Person. Jesus is the reward. His presence, forever and ever, is what every promise in Psalm 23 is pointing toward. If He is your Shepherd today, then this is your future. Hold onto that hope. It is real, it is certain, and it is yours.

Prayer

Lord, fix my eyes on the eternal hope I have in You. When this life feels heavy, remind me that You are my reward and that Your presence is the destination I am moving toward every single day. Amen.
