Friday: "Courage for the Road Ahead"

Jesus closed this conversation with His disciples with words that were meant to land like an anchor. Not a gentle suggestion. A declaration. Take courage. I have overcome the world. Those disciples were grieving. They were confused. Their expectations had been shattered and their future felt uncertain. And into that exact moment, Jesus spoke courage over them. Not because their circumstances had changed, but because He had. Suffering has a way of driving us to our knees. And that is not a bad thing. Prayer born out of desperation is still prayer. Dependence on God that grows out of pain is still dependence on God. In fact, some of the deepest joy a believer can experience comes not in spite of suffering, but through it. Because suffering strips away the substitutes and leaves us with what is real. You may not have the words to pray today. That is okay. The Holy Spirit intercedes for you when words fail. You may not understand why you are in the season you are in. That is okay too. Understanding comes in God's time, and He gives you what you need when you need it. What you can hold onto right now is this. Jesus has overcome. That is not a hope. It is a fact. And because it is true, you can face whatever is ahead with genuine, grounded courage.

Bible Verse

'Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.' - Romans 8:26

Is there an area of your life where you have been holding back from God because you do not know what to say or how to pray?

Prayer

Father, I come to You even without the right words. Thank You that Your Spirit intercedes for me. Give me the courage to keep showing up, trusting that You are already at work. Amen.
