Thursday: The Only One Who Could Stand

Micah raises a question that cuts to the core of the human condition. If mountains melt and valleys split at God's coming, how could any person stand in His presence? It is not a rhetorical question. It is the most important question any of us will ever face. The honest answer is that none of us can stand on our own. Not one. Every person carries the weight of sin, and sin cannot exist in the presence of a holy God. This is not a comfortable truth, but it is a necessary one. And yet, there is an answer. Jesus Christ, the only truly holy man who ever lived, stepped into our place. He did not come to observe our problem from a safe distance. He came as the Lamb, willing to bear the full weight of what our sin deserved. He absorbed the wrath of God so that we would not have to. He rose from the dead, proving that death itself could not hold Him. For everyone who trusts in Him, something remarkable happens. His righteousness becomes yours. Not because you earned it, but because He offers it freely. When you stand before God, you do not stand in your own record. You stand in His. This is the gospel. It is not just good news. It is the only news that actually solves the problem Micah raises.
