Thursday: "Justice Given to Jesus"

Devotional
Here is one of the most staggering truths in all of Scripture: the justice you deserved was placed on Jesus instead of you. God is not capricious. His wrath is not an emotional outburst. It is certain, purposeful, and holy. That means when it falls, it falls completely. And at the cross, it fell completely on Jesus so that it would not fall on you. This is the heart of the new covenant. Jesus took the cup of God's wrath so that you could receive the cup of His mercy. That exchange is the foundation of everything. It means you do not have to live in fear of God's judgment. You can live in the freedom of His grace. When you grasp this, gratitude becomes the natural response. Not a performance of thankfulness, but a deep, settled joy that says: I deserved justice, and I received mercy. That changes everything about how you face each day.
Bible Verse
"In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, 'This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.'" - Luke 22:20
Reflection Question
How would your daily life look different if you lived with a constant, genuine awareness that the justice you deserved was already carried by Jesus on your behalf?
Quote
Mercy was given to us and justice was given to Jesus.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for taking what I deserved so I could receive what I never could have earned. Let that truth shape how I live every single day. Amen
